Saturday Sky

We have had a little rain at least for the past week or so-pretty much the summer thunderstorm pattern.  This morning's sky is blue over the garden. In knitting news, I finished one sleeve on the baby cardi, did a few squares on the entrelac blankie and a bit on the sock.

Scrappy Quilt

Y'all, I just had to show you  my Aunt Eupha's quilt. This photo arrived in my e-mail today. This is really impressive.. She calls it her Scrappy Quilt, made from her fabric scraps, and she declares she will never make another one, but will throw scraps out! This and bridge has consumed all her time lately. Oh yeah, she is around 90 years old. Click for larger image.

Lots of Projects

I have gotten one sleeve done on my Plum Shrug in Debbie Bliss Cathay. I frogged the Rocketry baby sweater and restarted, this time in the correct gauge. I finished the body and started one sleeve. The first Carolina sock is past the heel now. I just got "aholt" of some Zen String Lotus Toes  Blue Faced Leceister sock yarn, in Oasis. I just got a message that it has shipped. I have been trying to get some of this stuff ever since I heard of it on Lime and Violet's podcast. They are real bad influences.

A Little Startitis

I have reached the sleeve divide for the Rocketry Cardigan from Dream in Color. Mine is a little different because I had lots of colors of Mission Falls 1824 Wool in my stash. Yeah, what about those other UFOs? I also cast on for the cotton baby bib from Mason Dixon Knitting, in purple.

Some Sock Progress

I have made a little progress on my Strawberries and Lime Bamboo Cotton Carolina sock. Most of my progress was made while waiting for photos to load in Typepad. Thanks to my wonky Internet connection, I lost part of  a post with lots of photos.  The yarn feels soft, but seems loosely spun in places. The Knit Picks sharp-pointed needle is not helping with its tendency to split. But, overall it's purty. Clickable to enlarge.

I was feeling lucky that I avoided the patch of poison ivy in the pasture near the first mimosa, when the blackfly bit me.

Sewing, Etc.

I have been wanting to make a little zipper pouch for knitting notions. I had fabric left over from sewing my knitting bag, and a leftover bit of bias tape.. All I needed to get was a 7" zipper. Now I have several. Anyway, I used this tutorial, and some of the Knit Wits knitting themed fabric. I don't like putting in zippers, so it took me a while to figure out what I was doing. It is pretty cute! I need to make a zipper pull. (Edited to add: I added a fishy stitch marker for a zipper pull.)  The inside has knitting terms. (I don't know what happened to the photos that I posted the other day, so I loaded them again. Sigh)

Summer of Socks

I felt better today than I have in the past several days. Maybe it was because the humidity was much lower, making the 90 degree day more bearable. But ya know what I think? I think it was because I started a new sock. I had been waiting for the start of the Summer of Socks, and I think I had sock knitting withdrawal. Lookie, Beth, I am using the Lime and Strawberries Panda Cotton. The pattern is Carolina, from Socktopia. I love it, well maybe not so much the knit 3 together, but it is easily memorized. I don't have enough done to show the pattern.

I also got a late birthday present to myself from eBay. This is a teabag wallet. I always carry teabags with me when I travel, being a tea snob, don't ya know. It's so cute I searched for teabag wallet. This is something I could sew for myself, but it was a treat to get it.  Those are my favorites, Tazo Awake and Stash Irish Breakfast--real tea..

This is the first post in a couple of weeks from my Dell desktop. I had to reassemble the computer. There is something plugged in every USB port and every outlet on my UPS. We got new carpet, and everything from furniture to my knitting books has been moved and shifted.

More Yarn. More Books

It rained a little today. I looked out my window and saw a rare sight-rain pouring down. When I came back to work yesterday, I had some Colrain, Webs worsted yarn in burgundy that is 50/50 Merino and Tencel. I have 11 skeins for the Knitting Pure and Simple Wrap Cardigan, no. 263.. Shiny... It feels nice, too.

DH ordered me some books for my birthday. I had to get into his Amazon accont and cancel two, as I already had them. After all the Library 2.0 hoopla,  I set up a Library Thing account to see if I could track them better.
Books
Left to right, Mary Kruger, Knit Fast, Die Young, Maggie Sefton, A Killer Stitch, and Earlene Fowler, Tumbling Blocks. Not pictured is Carole Nelson Douglas, Cat in a Red Hot Rage, with Midnight Louie. Knitting and quilting cozies.

Starkville Sunset

Since I forgot my Saturday Sky shot, here is Thursday's twilight over downtown Starkville, MS. Must be right before they  rolled up the sidewalks
