    Resistance is Futile

Well, the other day I was wearing my Noro Kureyon vest in color 40. I looked at the colors in the bathroom mirror and I thought that it sure would be nice to have really matching socks. So I found... drum roll please... Noro Kureyon  Sock yarn in color 40, posing here on a pile of papers on my desk. The cell phone camera does OK at times. Now what sock pattern should I use?

    Monkeying Around

So I came across this CUTE pattern on Etsy for a crocheted tape measure cozy. Yes, I do knit. I worked on other projects today at a meeting of the NW GA Knitters Group. I did mostly show and tell, though. We have not seen each other and our projects in several months.

This pattern is from SherryCrochets.com One ear covers the end of the tape measure. So cute!  She has lots of other cute things in her shop, too. I used Wool-Ease I found at Michaels, after discovering Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby had none. W*mart had NO Lion Brand at all.

    More Hearts

I finished the itty bitty hearts. I sewed them up and stuffed them. I also felted a basket. This is a Carol Bristol pattern that is no longer on the Web. I saved a copy last year. I saved a lot of seasonal felting patterns that I am just now getting to. The base is Lamb's Pride in Lotus Pink, and the sides are one strand of the Lambs Pride and one of the Patons SWS.  The garter stitch base still has a bit of stitch definition, but the SWS felted well.

I blocked Mr. Greenjeans in blue. I still need to sew a button on. I have plain periwinkle buttons. Here it is modeled by Maud, my new toy, a Singer dress form. I need to set her adjustments. I need to unsubscribe from Joann Fabric's e-mails. The Ott Lite should be here tomorrow.

It is still cold here. I have been wearing handknits and my Merrell Chill fleece-lined clogs.. I did not get any knitting done today, as I had to call both  Verizon and Hewlett Packard tech support.  I am printing again and downloading ringtones.

    Heart Felt

Hee hee. Not only do you have to suffer bad puns, but a also a kinda bad photo from my brand-new LG 8350 (in red) cell phone. I have been using up stash yarn, and made a case for my little clip-on sunglasses from Patons SWS in Natural Plum. Them soybeans felt purty good.  My first attempt at this fits my Nikon Coolpix camera perfectly, so I can carry it in my purse to be prepared for the next blizzard. The hearts.are from Mochimochi Land, if you can get past the knitted toilet paper, and I found them on the Hot Cocoa Swap site sidebar. They were also featured in Lime and Violet's Daily Chum.

    Apple Blossom, Box Bag

If I were in the ABC-along, I would have an A and  B. I have finally succeeded in making a box bag. I understand the prices I see on Etsy now. (I have so much fabric and sewing stash that I can't justify buying a bag.)  I studied every tutorial I could find on the Web. I sorta kinda followed a combination of Drago[Knit] Fly and Three Bears Little Boxy Pouch. ( I cannot find the link right now.) tutorials. My first one, now cut up for scraps, was long and skinny, as I put the zipper the wrong way. This one is still a little long, but it holds a center-wound 100g ball of sock yarn, which is what I wanted. The zipper pull is festooned with a charm thingie I got at the dollar store.

The sushi fabric came from Ebay. The zipper is a purse zipper from Zipper Stop.com The lining, with Asian characters, came  from Hancock. My hesitation in making one, was figuring out what to do about the raw seams showing in the lining. I bound the raw seams with bias tape.

    Saturday Snow

Why, yes it is snowing in Alabama.  Again. I had to go out and get pictures before it went away.

    Crocheting and Waiting for Snow

DH just said my blog was boring, and I needed to post. Well, I drove home through a blizzard the other day, with snowflakes swirling everywhere.. I was in Montgomery for a meeting, a couple-three hours south of here. It was sleeting, all the way across Alabama, until about 1 hour from home, it started snowing hard. Of course, I had thought as I left, I don't need a camera. DH laughed at me when I bought bread and milk on Tuesday.  I drove home from the library very slowly. Anyway, it is supposed to snow again after midnight tonight. We might get 1-2 inches.

Hey ya'll, look at this! DH says that is a redneck's last words.  Yes, I did watch a lot of Paula Deen on the Food Network, when I wasn't watching old Law & Order episodes. Anyway, here is my Amigurumi Lambie-Pie (the patterin is actually called Little Lambkins). Isn't he cute? Before and after. Some assembly required. Isn't it cute. I saw it in the SWTC newletter. The taupe is Karaoke, and the fleece is Bamboo Feather. You can't see nothin' with that eyelash! I dunno how many stitches I has.  I learned to crochet in Girl Scouts when I was 12, but I learned something new, the Magic Circle, doing Amigurumi, using Planet June's tutorial, (would link but I can't find the blog right now. Something else comes up)  I ordered Mr. Funky's Super Crochet Wonderful for the library.

    Two, Blue

The Shaped Cardigan from Knitting Pure and Simple in Highland Silk from Elann. Or, as I call it, my Weight Watchers "before" photo. Photo by DH.

I also finished the Mr. Greenjeans cardi from Knitty in TLC Cotton Plus in Periwinkle. Better picture later.  The modifications are chevron lace instead of ribs and cables, and narrower, 3/4 length sleeves.

    Yarn from Last Year

So OK, this doesn't count as a 2008 yarn acquisition. It has been in my mailbox at work since before Xmas. Zen String Lotus Toes Blue Faced Leicester yarn in Sedona.

I am about halfway done with the second Mr. Greenjeans sleeve. I picked up the Cozy in Cables CIC sweater and finished the body on it. I have taken a notion to finish long languishing UFOs. so far, it is three blue sweaters.
