    Tag, You're It

I was tagged by  Mary Beth with a meme. Here are the rules:

    1. Pick up the nearest book of 123 or more pages. I picked up Debbie Macomber's 74 Seaside Avenue, and opened it. I happened to open on page 123

    2. Open the book to page 123 and find the 5th sentence. "Dad?" Jolene cut into his musings.

    3. Post the next 3 sentences.
    "What?"
You're standing up but you're not going anywhere."
"I am?" He hadn't been aware that he was on his feet until Jolene pointed it out.

Well, there ya go.  It is a little more interesting than the 2008 Accord Owner' s Manual that was a little closer to hand.
If anyone in blogland has not done this, you are tagged. :)

    Actual Finished Socks

Yes, hard to believe. I have finished my Toe Jazz socks from the Fiber Trends pattern. The yarn is Lang Jawoll Cotton Jacquard. I thought they would look good with my Betula sandals. The carpet coordinates well with most anything. I would have to check the blog or Ravelry to remind myself when they were started, LOL. they have little cables down the back and heel flap, and ribbed fronts.

    All Sorts of Things

So I have gotten to the hood for CPH. I think I don't need to worry about running out of yarn anymore, I have lots left for the hood and ribbing trim. Whew

My Wee Tiny Sockie for the Wee Tiny Sock Swap is finished. It seems to brighten up a cool overcast day.

Peanut is tired. This is the best shot I could get, as the camera and I don't hold her interest enough to make her look up.

But, my FIL can sure hold their interest with a dog biscuit. DH entitled this shot, "High Priest of the Bone-bone addresses the congregation."

    New Project

So here is my new project. A wee tiny sock for the Wee Tiny Sock Swap. I think I am knitting on toothpicks. Socks that Rock (lightweight, I think) in Hot Flash. The first leftover yarn I laid my hands on.

    Knitting, and Flowers

Hey, remember the Central Park Hoodie? I finished the right front last night, and it is blocking now. Next step-hood!

    Sayonara Soryu

Hello Hiryu. Who says I don't have clever titles on rare occasions? DH keeps trying to give my Accords Japanese names.  (History majors, what can I say?) However, Soryu, for green dragon, was a WWII aircraft carrier sunk at the battle of  Midway. Hiryu, either red or flying dragon, was also sunk at Midway. So I don't really embrace these names. I just call them Accord.  So anyway, what I am saying here is that I traded my dark green Accord coupe for a Basque Red sedan a couple of weeks ago. I am easily amused, but it tickles me that Hiryu was bigger than Soryu, as Accords have gotten larger. We got tired of two doors, and the mileage was mounting up.

Geez, as Darlene says, this is a lot of change.  (Although I had much less trauma than she did.) This one even talks to me. After 45 minutes, with the cell phone manual, owner's manual and navigation manual, I even made a call using Bluetooth and my cell phone after pairing the two. I felt as if I were in Star Trek. I have been calling it "her" for the female voice. It tells me what time it is. They didn't tell me the audio and climate control as well as the navigation system were all voice activated. I have had interesting results with voice commands.  I have been studying the DVD that explains the features and functions, and finally got my cell phone contacts from the navigation system database saved into the Hands Free Link database. Whew! For my next trick, I want to get a cable to connect my mp3 player to the stereo so I can listen to Lime and Violet and audiobooks.

I have to say that I was only insulted by a Toyota salesman who couldn't believe my DH would let me do my own car trading when I looked briefly at RAV-4s. "It's MY Honda," I replied. The Honda salespeople I dealt with at least knew how much I knew about the Accord. My salesman, who sold me the last Accord too, always comments on my knitting.

    F is For Flamingo

Of course, there were too many people around when the sun was on the real flamingos and sculpted ones to get a photo opp with the sock, so I had to settle for neon. DH and I have stayed in the pink place every trip to Las Vegas. Did anyone see that coming?

    Spring Break in Vegas, Baby

DH and I spent a week in Las Vegas at the Flamingo. I still didn't make it to a LYS, oh well. I did remember to take some sky shots, one even on Saturday. Warning: photo heavy post. Speaking of Internet connections, we did not have one this morning. I have talked to Belkin three times, and our ISP once. I have messed with computers all dat. We now have a new network card, new Ethernet cable, and a new wireless router. Whew! I guess I still retain the title of Techno-geek that DH gave me, despite the fact it took three days to change the time on my previous Accord's clock.

We went to see Spamalot at the Wynn. We also got card memberships at the Wynn, and racked up enough points for 4 buffets. OMG. Grilled asparagus, salmon, red snapper, shrimp, raspberry iced tea, creme brulee, carrot cake, key lime pie, caramel eclairs....  DH did not have to explain Monty Python humor to me. We were very close to the stage. King Arthur (John O'Hurley) kept blocking my view.

Breakfast at Margaritaville. This is the view across the street from the third floor balcony. Yes, they have the drink menu at 7 a.m. DH was winning,  and had hit his first Royal Flush on video poker at the Flamingo, He had several hand pays, so he celebrated with Incommunicados (scroll to very end) and pancakes. I had French toast with berries and whipped cream.
    Breakfast

We also had dinner at Margaritaville. I had crab and corn chowder, shrimp and crabmeat salad, a peach daiquiri, and a COKE. (What is it with the Pepsi and casinos?) DH had the Cheeseburger in Paradise and more Incommunicados. I had Key Lime pie for dessert. You-know-who had an Incommunicado. We did a lot of walking.

The Toe Jazz second sock admires the view. I left CPH in Birmingham. I took the entrelac scarf with bamboo needles on the plane, but only worked on the sock at the Flamingo.

I turned the heel, and finished the gussets. See that pedicure?

    March 14, 2008

Hi y'all, I will be in Las Vegas next week for Spring Break!

Here is the best I can do right now for Darlene. I have been getting ready for a presentation and working late, and now it is cloudy and  I am leaving for Birmingham. Cell phone camera photo.Honda

    Snowy Sky

More sky photos. I had the chance to see snow from the 12th floor of the Houston Cole Library at Jacksonville State University. I took these as I was going from floor to floor opening the library.  With weather like this, only the circulation supervisor and I were there. And she  lives a little further away than I do. All the student workers were sick or playing in the snow, maybe.  All these photos were taken around the same time. Weather seems to vary on each side of the library.
