    I Has One Sock

Hey, finishing one Clessidra is like knitting a pair of shorter socks! Especially when  you persist in crossing cables in the wrong direction. I still can't knit the sock the way the pattern is written-I have to shift it around so that the front is on one side of the circ, and the back on the other. That makes my end of row in a strange place, and I forget the first decrease and have to do it on the next row. Ack! Oh well, it is shaped OK and fits well. I also started the second one, see. Since I did not hit it big at the casinos in Tunica, MS. I guess I won't be retiring and taking up spinning and watercolor lessons. So much for paying off the Honda-I won about enough for a couple of car payments. DH had more hand-pays again, and accomplished one of  his lifetime ambitions, and hit three double diamonds on the Double Diamond slot machine. I refuse to play a slot machine again until we go back the other end of MS to Biloxi-the only place I seem to win.

Someone can't believe I would rather pay attention to a sock than to her. Gratutious Cookie (Monster) shot. I am no fun--"Don't chew on my hand, don't chew on my dress, don't chew on Buddy's ear."

    Almost Have a Sock

I have almost reached the toe of the first Clessidra sock. I did a regular heel, no more seed stitch! Despite having to rip out a few rows again due to yet another miscrossed cable, I am almost there. Since the Lab mix pup was too cute to give up, she has been named Cookie to go with her "big sisters" Honey and Peanut, who do resemble each other. I was looking askance at every yellow Lab I saw as we got closer to home-is he the daddy?

    More Sock and Flower Photos

    Clessidra4
Clessidra is at the ankle. It is so neat the way the small cables meet at the ankle.

    Tomato
The tomatoes are blooming, and I have a new Nikon lens. The Brandyboy shows its Brandywine parentage with the strange shaped blossom and potato shaped leaves. This plant broke when it was small and it was taped and nursed along. It is the largest tomato plant now. The basil has finally been transplanted in the garden

What is this, the pet of the week feature? Lastly, does anyone need a Lab mix pup?  Look at that face! She has been wormed and treated for fleas and ticks.

    Socking Along Again

Clessidra has not been going along quite as smoothly. I lost my cable needle at lunch yesterday. Maybe I can find it at lunch tomorrow. I forgot to cross a cable, and tried to fix it, and ended up taking out 3 or so rows. Later the power went off, and while trying to knit by flashlight, I lost another cable needle and the crochet hook I was trying to fix dropped stitches with. I had to rip out some more later two times to fix miscrossed cables. The power came back on after 1.5 hours.

    Nothing But Clessidra

I did order a pattern for a laptop case today. My fabric stash is large, too. Anyway, I have been enjoying the Clessidra pattern. It is easy so far. The Embossed Leaves are languishing on the vine, as Christy said in the comments. Yes. my calf is that big-you should have seen them when I was taking dance and gymnastics.

I forgot to add this yesterday. Oh yes, speaking of socks, operating on the theory that one can never had too much sock yarn or patterns, I ordered Laura's kit for Pink Ribbon socks.  I love the way the ribbons meet at the heel to form cables. The order includes a donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I am a fan of Laura's hand-painted yarn, and donate anyway to the cause. Hurry, there are not many of the kits left.

    Moving Right Along

My sock is now identifiable as Clessidra. It did take me a while to get it shifted around on the Magic Loop. Knit Picks Gloss in burgundy.

    Yet Another Sock and Bag

I tried yet again to make a shorter box bag. I think the secret is to sew the zipper in the short end, duh. I was inspired by Tonyia, after I found her blog with the easier squared corners technique. Anyway, this bag is rife with mistakes, but it matches my lnitting bag. The reason for the denim strip is that the zipper was already sewn in a leftover oiece from said bag. That is the beginning of Clessidra with the Knit Picks Gloss yarn.

I got some more fabric from a really neat place, the Fat Quarter Shop. It was packaged very nicely and arrived really fast. This is Moda Funky Monkey-it has sock monkeys! The fabric underneath is inspired by the song Five Little Monkeys (jumping on the bed) For the easily amused, I have embedded a YouTube video. My nephew, who is five, said he had never heard the song, and besides, he couldn't be a monkey because he had blonde hair.

    Some Assembly Required

I got some KnitPicks Gloss wool/silk sock yarn in burgundy for Clessidra. I am trying to distract myself from casting on. But I would have to wind the yarn first. I need to work on DH's Lava Flow socks (link to .pdf) in Lorna's Laces Rainbow. Yes, he picked out the yarn.

More Socks Finished, Felted Fishies Featured

I finished the second Annetrelac Sock from IK Holiday issue last night. Look at the foot. Both of them had white striping with the aqua and burgundy until I hit the foot. Both have the white pooling or whatever it's called on one side of the the foot. One is  just not facing out. Thankewe (Etsy) sock yarn in Winter Chill.

Before I got to the sock, however, I made another box bag. I wanted one shorter and wider, instead I got one longer. What are the secret dimensions? I always forget to check before I start one. Sigh. I used Drago[Knit]-Fly's tutorial. I also used tips from here. I have ordered an OOP Butterick pattern for my next attempt. I had a fat quarter of Japanese lucky cat fabric, from eBay, I think. I made a bit of binding for the inside raw seams, even, and used grosgrain ribbon for tabs at each end of the zipper.. I lined the bag with red fabric with tiny white hearts. I got some lucky cat beads from Etsy, and used one for a zipper pull.

And, because Marsha asked, here are Fred and Bubba the felted fishies (FiberSpace pattern) who live in my office, suspended from fishing line..They are made of Kureyon and Mountain Colors/Cascade 220. Their photos are long lost in  former blog archive, so here they are again:

    Embossed Leaves

I have been working on socks-alternating between the second entrelac sock and the first Embossed Leaves sock. I had to take my father-in-law to two  Birmingham doctor's appointments with the rheumatologist and dermatologist. because DH was too sick. I got that duty because DH's bronchitis was more severe than mine. My cough sounds better and I am blowing my nose a whole lot less. Anyway, I got a lot of time to work on the sock today at doctors' offices.. The Embossed Leaves socks have not been photographed in a long time, so I posed them with a magnolia and a maple.
