New Yarn, New Project

Why, yes, I do have a number of knitting projects started. I got new yarn-a skein of Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) Worsted Heights. I think I might make a cowl. It is from Liberty's Yarns, and the colorway is Dee.

I also started the Faery Ring sweater from Webs Northampton yarn in a dark teal color. The pattern is available free. (.pdf link)

Entrelac, Etc.

To make up for the lack of progress on my entrelac wrap and lack of blogging, I have lots of photos today. First, the entrelac in Plymouth Kudo yarn.

See the Knit Picks Zephyr needle points there? Neat and lightweight.

A few months ago when it was fresh, I hung this what? Deer pelvis. maybe? on the fence to keep it away from the puppy. It's still there.

I looked up at the sky over the pasture. The sky is so blue and the  light is so pretty and golden, that you would think the weather was fall-like. No, I was dripping in sweat after walkng and running up hills.

I looked down in the grass below this sky.

I also got sock yarn in the mail from a destash sale. This is Yarn Nerd 900 MHZ wool/tencel in Palm Beach colorway.

Yarn and Pup

I got new yarn. My pup got a holt of my new yarn in his mouth. It is superwash, but I had to pry it out of his mouth. Anyway, the yarn is Hedonist sock in Daiquiri, from Slackford Studio. It has cashmere in it. Dogs love it. What more could you ask for? Belvedere is 6 months old, and he was 110 pounds last Monday.

Another Sock

I started the second sock of the Diagonal Lace pattern right after I finished the first sock.

I Actually Finished a Sock!

I finished the first Diagonal Lace Sock! I have not been knitting very much, since I think I started it in June. The yarn is Plymouth Sockin' Socks with bamboo. I started the sock with an Internet pattern that I found before DH got me Wendy Johnson's book, Socks from the Toe Up. Now I have all of the patterns. I am still short row heel challenged, so I love the gusset and flap heel for toe up socks.

"Mama, are you sure this is the best angle for the sock?" asks Belvedere. I think the vine is a gourd, as it has white flowers, not yellow like squash.

We Have a Winner

I used the random number generator at Random.org, and the number was 7, which was Sara Campbell. Thanks so much to Sara and everyone else for reading my blog and donating to this worthy cause. Sara, please send your mailing address to me at pbarnett AT tds DOT com.

I did exclude my sisters, who are breast cancer survivors, but not knitters. Don't feel bad, because I have given them both hand knitted pink socks. One was Chappy's Booby Socks in Hot Flash sock yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. I still have much pink yarn to knit my own.

I am still in training for the 5K, despite obstacles such as tripping over St. Bernard puppies, and being scratched by an over-excited Punkin while she is dancing around on her hind legs as I walk too slow for her. I have done Week 4 of C25K about 10 times, and might attempt Week 5 tomorrow.

Race for the Cure Donation Contest

As I met my $250 goal a few days ago  for the Komen Race for the Cure on October 10, I have decided to give away 2 skeins of Lorna's Laces Flamingo Stripe yarn from my collection gathered for planned pink ribbon socks. If you have a serious aversion to pink, let me know. Sorry for not having more fanfare-too busy training for the 5K, ya know. (Right) Contributors (except non-knitting sisters) will get an entry for every $5 they donated. We might let Belvedere draw, but he likes to eat paper.

Jeweled Leaves

The overcast skies and the raindrops on the Elephant Ear leaves combined to give a jewel-like shine. I also got the WendyKnits designed Diagonal Lace sock to pose. I have a little cuff left to do before the ribbing. The yarn is Plymouth Sockin' Socks bamboo blend.These were taken with the Nikon D200, which has not been used much lately.

 

 

 

 

Obedience class and the 40 mile trip each way is very tiring. I am tired too.

Belvedere

More Belvedere photos. He can look so goofy, then look dignified. He is over 100 pounds. I knitted a few rows on my Diagonal Lace sock today. I found a mistake, some lace holes left out, so I put it aside again.

 

 

When I petted Peanut, Belvedere barked at her. Punkin has her back to us. She is a little afraid of Peanut.
