    Miscellany

I frogged Ariann and cast on for another felted pumpkin last night. Ariann lives on, on this blog and Ravelry. I started Mr. Greenjeans from Knitty the other day, with the yarn that was formerly Ariann. I can do top-down raglans, bottom-up not so much.

I donated to several worthy causes, including Aimee's Walk with Us to Cure Lupus. I read about Aimee on Wendy's blog, and probably saw her in Atlanta at the Yarn Harlot event. There are lots of yummy prizes being donated. Check out the Web site.

Oh yeah, I said I was knitting more pumpkins. The bigger one is from  Carol Bristol's Felted Pumpkin Pair in Lion Wool Pumpkin, and the smaller one is the Minature Felted Pumpkin from Wool Windings, in Wool of the Andes Pumpkin. The leaf and tendril are in Patons Classic Wool.

    Ariann goes on

Here is Ariann posing in my sister's huge rosemary plant. Both of us still smell like rosemary. The neckline was looking funny, so I had to rip out a few inches. It helps to read the directions.

    Her peonies are blooming, too.

    Ariann Still Going

Well, I have gotten the sleeves attached to Ariann. Only had to rip back a few, long, rows when I discovered I was doing decreases wrong. I have started the neckline decreases. It is a lot closer to finishing, at least. It doesn't show up as dark as the periwinkle really is.

    Blues

Here is a somewhat artsy shot of Ariann's body section with one and a partial sleeve. The TLC Cotton Plus in periwinkle is a wee bit darker when not basking in the sun..

Today's sky. It barely got to 50 degrees today, and was very windy, after reaching into the 80s a week or two ago.

    A Little More Ariann

I have done a little more on Ariann. Actually figured out the sleeve. This is TLC Cotton Plus in Periwinkle. I got bored with the socks, they are all past the gusset.

    Ariann Continues

Hey, what happened to my sock-knitting mojo? I got disgusted with the sleeve for Ariann, and set it aside to begin working on the body. I kept doing increases on the sleeve, but the stitch count stayed the same. Think I was trying to work the pattern into the sleeve, and not having paired increases and decreases. Whatever. The sleeve is back to a few inches. The body is a little past the first decreases. I had a hard time getting those daffodils to pose. I tried wherever there was a clump of them. I also had a hard time getting that Addi circ's cable to cooperate.

    Various and Sundry Things

Well. lookie, here. I did not notice until today that the Bradford pear was blooming.

A little more sleeve for Ariann. I also cast on for the body, and did about two rows. I ordered longer cables for the Options Knitpicks needle set.

I made a sock sleeve for a pair of socks I am donating for a silent auction at work to raise money for the American Heart Association. The incandescent light must have overpowered the flash (?) to make it this warm. I got tired of fiddling in photo editors. Sigh.

    A Little Sleevage

Well, the dress progressed a little more than the sleeve of Ariann, because I frogged it to go back and add the pattern stitches on the sides, as I was getting a funky looking sleeve without them. I haven't been sleeping well due to taking prednisone for fluid in my middle ear. So last night when I got home from work at 11:30 pm, I put a  roast and some potatoes in the Crock-pot (for lunch) and sat down to frog and redo a little on my sleeve. At 1 am I went to bed. Don't worry, I have to go to work at 3:30 pm today. Anyway, a little sleevage on the dress fabric. I am making the 3/4 sleeve version, and I am using my Knitpicks Options size 7 needle here in Magic Loop. Periwinkle TLC Cotton Plus yarn.

The major work left on the dress is the hem. It also needs a button and other hand-sewing. The Japanase magnolia, from which it is hanging, is beginning to bud out.

    A Swatch for Ariann

Well, it sounded poetic to me. I got to the point on my Knitting Pure and Simple neckdown shaped cardigan where I divided for the sleeves. This is Highland Silk DK from Elann, Twilight Blue..Raglan2

Then I set it aside and started on the aforementioned swatch. The backdrop here is navy floral rayon fabric that I bought last year to make a sleeveless dress to go with other yarn. Then I got this TLC Cotton Twist yarn in Periwinkle to make something else. Then yesterday I got the notion that I wanted to make the dress and make Ariann to wear over it for my Alabama Library Association conference presentations in April. (Mobile--Heidi's Yarn Haus) Maybe even wear it to ALA in DC in June. Anyone have an idea for a poster session? .

I sewed the back seam, and serged the edges. Then I read the pattern guidesheet, which didn't say to sew the back seam. Oh well, says I, and continued, and sewed the inside facings, which ended up being  the armhole and front and back facings. Then I pinned the side seams, then unpinned them. THEN I was supposed to pull the backs through the fronts to get everything right side out. After about five times of going around in a circle, always ending up with the facings outside, it ocurred to me why I was not supposed to sew that back seam. I had read the wrong view on the guidesheet. Anyway, after taking out the back seam and the serged edge, the facings are where they are supposed to be. I have the back, side seams and hem left. I gotta get it done while the serger is set up. Can't touch the tension settings.

Then I remembered it was supposed to storm and I had better go blog so I can uplug the modem.
