More Hearts

I finished the itty bitty hearts. I sewed them up and stuffed them. I also felted a basket. This is a Carol Bristol pattern that is no longer on the Web. I saved a copy last year. I saved a lot of seasonal felting patterns that I am just now getting to. The base is Lamb's Pride in Lotus Pink, and the sides are one strand of the Lambs Pride and one of the Patons SWS.  The garter stitch base still has a bit of stitch definition, but the SWS felted well.

I blocked Mr. Greenjeans in blue. I still need to sew a button on. I have plain periwinkle buttons. Here it is modeled by Maud, my new toy, a Singer dress form. I need to set her adjustments. I need to unsubscribe from Joann Fabric's e-mails. The Ott Lite should be here tomorrow.

It is still cold here. I have been wearing handknits and my Merrell Chill fleece-lined clogs.. I did not get any knitting done today, as I had to call both  Verizon and Hewlett Packard tech support.  I am printing again and downloading ringtones.

Heart Felt

Hee hee. Not only do you have to suffer bad puns, but a also a kinda bad photo from my brand-new LG 8350 (in red) cell phone. I have been using up stash yarn, and made a case for my little clip-on sunglasses from Patons SWS in Natural Plum. Them soybeans felt purty good.  My first attempt at this fits my Nikon Coolpix camera perfectly, so I can carry it in my purse to be prepared for the next blizzard. The hearts.are from Mochimochi Land, if you can get past the knitted toilet paper, and I found them on the Hot Cocoa Swap site sidebar. They were also featured in Lime and Violet's Daily Chum.

Pineapple Cam! (and More Felted Punkins)

First, here is what the pineapple looks like today.

Next, I finally felted the Pumpkins I had knitted earlier. The smaller yellowish one is Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Pumpkin. The pattern is free, Wool Windings'  Miniature Felted Pumpkin. The larger ones are from Carol Bristol's Felted Pumpkin Pair, (scroll down to see) in Cascade Pastaza Wool/Llama in Tangerine and Lion Wool in Pumpkin. The green top is Cascade 220

Felted Pumpkin, Before and After

I have made yet another pumpkin. This one is felted, and it is made from the Knitty pattern. The leaf is from the Knitlist gift list.

Hmm, the leaf might need trimming... The clothespins are there to keep the stem and vine from blowing away outside.

Punkin with stem and leaf attached. I did not follow the pattern exactly, so I had to gather up the top. I kind of lost the ridges.

Squirrel finished

I'll tell ya what happened. I forgot and the washer went into the spin cycle for a few minutes. So it did not take long to dry under the ceiling fan. Here are some shots from our photo shoot. After a fruitless search for suitable "eyes"and posting to the Knitlist, I went to a local, independent fabric store and found animal eyes and little round buttons. I got three sizes to make sure one was good. DH voted for the beady-eyed look.  Y'all know what?  I have a squirrel (a real, live Eastern Gray) for a friend in Facebook.

A Tale of a Squirrel

Squirrel4 OK, technically, it's spelled tail. I have been wondering if I could have felted the squirrel in the Jacuzzi-throw in a little Gilchrist & Soames mineral bath and crank the jets all the way up... Oh well, I did not have the nerve to try it. Don't want the Sheraton to actually keep the security deposit. hee hee. (Hold your horses, I will get a photo eventually. It's too hot for wool squirrels outside.)  I got the much talked about Vogue Knitting 25th anniversary edition last night at the Taming of the Ewe, to see what all the hoopla was about. I have not gotten to it yet. How many mags and patterns have I bought after a lot of list discussion?

I took the Feather and Fan second sock with me to the Honda dealer. I got a couple inches done on the leg. Of course the only person who showed any interest was "my" salesman, who remarked that I always had a sock there. It's portable, I said.  I ain't knitting him socks --I don't think I got a good deal. Guess they don't like people trading in 5-year-old Accords with 88,999 miles, ya think? I have 50,000 now on a 2.5-year-old Accord. Now he is trying to sell me a 2008 Accord. Sigh... All that yarn money going to Honda is too much to think about.

Speaking of thinking, it is too hot to do that. Forecast Fox is showing flaming thermometers again on the taskbar. It says 102 is the forecast high.  The outside temp read 103 degrees when I got into the car yesterday.

At Knit Night, I got the heel flap done, turned the heel and started the gusset. In my never-ending quest to avoid making three feet of i-cord for the Mitered Square Jacket in Vogue Simply Knitting or whatever the title of the magazine I have subscribed to for 15-20 years, the directions start with make three feet of i-cord, I got a Clover Wonder Knitter. Excuse me while I compose a letter to the magazine formerly known as FCEK about their recommendation for the Bond Embellish Knit for i-cord. NOT FOR SILK GARDEN, folks. The weight breaks single-ply yarn. I tried Silk Garden lite-same thing. I know the mag sweater is made from Kureyon-same difference. At least the Wonder Knitter was 50% off at Hobby Lobby. Anyone want to buy a slightly used Embellish Knit? Makes lovely cord with the enclosed Caron sample. Of course, no one need concern themselves that I could have done 12 feet of i-cord by now. I have about four inches done manually. Anyhoo, I got striped Sugar and Cream at HL, and have decided to try to convert the Garterlac Dishcloth at Criminy Jickets into a baby bib.

For now, I leefs you wit dis:

Squirrel Started

After a disappointing evening with Ariann, I had to start a new project. Ariann was near the end, but was too large at the top. I frogged back to the sleeves-edging, neck shaping, buttonholes and all... Sigh. She is back in timeout. Nuts about Squirrels from Fiber Trends is interesting so far. I got a kit of Naturally yarns from Two Swans. I got the body and head done today-that looks like a carcass or something.

Hat Transformation

OK, remember this hat from my November 27 entry? When I tried it on, it had the sudden effect of making me talk like Mushmouth from-b the Fat Albert cartoon  (How old does that make me feel?) It is made from Baabajoe's Woolpak 8 ply yarn. I never got it felted because I did not think I had anything lying around the house that was the right size and shape. I finally made it to Sally Beauty Supply today and got a Styrofoam wig stand. So I felted the big hat today. I actually tried the dripping-wet with hot water hat on out of the washing machine-I put a plastic grocery sack over my hair. Then I had the brilliant idea of trying it on the head! D'oh!
