Not Sock Knitting

I have actually been knitting on my cropped raglan cardigan. The yarn is periwinkle TLC Cotton Plus. In real color, a little more purple. I have just started the Feather and Fan trim.
Raglan

This morning, I made more apple butter. Then I decided to try some freezer jam because we have many packages of Ball freezer jam pectin. The plastic containers are peach jam. The jars are apple butter. I also made French bread baguettes, cornbread and blueberry muffins. Then I knitted for a while. I had a BLT for supper with two different types of tomatoes.

Cookie and I wandered by the garden on the way to pose the raglan on the woodpile. The basil is still determined to bloom, despite mine and DH's attacks with the pruning shears.

Saturday Sky and Tomatoes

I spotted this view from the 12th floor west windows of the Houston Cole Library last Sunday. My first thought was, "Man, I wish I had my camera." Wait, then I remembered my cell phone was in my pocket.

Today, I have done a little bit on the entrelac scarf I started long ago. It still looks pretty much the same. So instead of knitting, a photo essay on tomatoes. I picked tomatoes and made two batches of tomato sauce that came out kinda orange. I wonder why. LOL.

Basket
A heavy little basket of basil and tomatoes. Cookie stays away from basil, guess it repels puppies as well as Japanese beetles.

Colander
There are red Romas. The green is a basil leaf.

A photo of bruschetta in the new Herb Companion magazine led to breaking out the bread machine and making dough for these. I never got to the bruschetta, just ate hot bread. I pigged out on whole wheat angelhair pasta with pesto and tomatoes.

Socks and Sprouts

We have basil sprouts! I knew I should have labeled them, but I will be able to tell Genovese from Summerlong-it will have bigger leaves
Basil .

See, it is definitely spring. Tomorrow, however, a cold front is forecast, and the possibility of bad weather. We all I had to go to the library basement twice last Friday. Doing research for a student on the 1994 Palm Sunday tornado has made me a little nervous

I have been working on my River Run Sock. I did the heel twice last night, but that's what I did with the first sock. It would have helped if I had not done the socks six months apart. All the hard stuff is done.. I have about three inches of ribbing done on Spring Fling in purple, not very photogenic yet.

In a Red Mood

Well, purple is in the family, right? H is for Hoodie. I have gotten about six inches or so done on the hood for CPH. The cables show up a lot better outside in the sun.

The other reds. I got the LG 8350 from Verizon in January, coincidentally. It goes well with Basque Red.  They also communicate well with each other using Bluetooth, after an initial struggle. (Computers!) The nail polish's name had something about scarlet and affair or something. Yes, I wiped the footprint off the freshly detailed by the Honda dealer bumper.
Reds

I left the dealership and drove straight to Lowe's and put 120 pounds of topsoil in the trunk. Had to dismantle the brand new cargo net. Looks just like the one on the Web site, except for the cardboard box of crap from the last Accord. (The net may not be in there right-like the nav system, Bluetooth and voice commands, everything has a learning curve.) The little white thing in the lower right corner? It's a Honda logo. (Why it costs more, right?) There is reflective tape on  the top, and it zips closed. Nice. The cargo net was promised by the dealer, who still owes me a tank of gas. It poured down rain this morning, and the road that I take to work has not been repaved yet.. See the dirt on the freshly detailed back bumper?
Net

Last but not least, a little green. The baby tomatoes have been transplanted into large pots. They are a couple of feet tall, and gangly

Still Marooned on Sleeve Island

I have worked mostly on the CPH sleeves. I had a moment the other day when I thought I had crossed a cable wrong, but it looks OK.

The little tomato plants are also out enjoying the sun. It is supposed to be in the 60s today, and it is gorgeous. I  forgot my sky photo the first time out..

D Is for Daffodil

A few more daffodils are blooming in my yard, so here is my D photo. They mean hope to me, of coming spring and brighter days ahead. The flowers and leaves are a bright spot in a brown winter landscape. Click for larger image.

Hot Cocoa Swap and One Sock

I got my Hot Cocoa Swap package today, from Nelda the Knitting Nurse! It was full of chocolate and goodies, including the cutest little knit kitty-cat. There is Bellagio hot cocoa, bittersweet and mint, too. Also a mug in the center of the photo, with hearts and a red inside. We sampled the chocolate, and might have hot cocoa and Outrageous chocolate covered marshmallows later.  The yarn is from Yarn Oddity, by Ms. Pixie Riot "The Birds will Still be Singing." Look at the stitch markers!

I also finished one of my Annetrelac socks the other day, when I needed a break after finishing the back of CPH, blocking here:

The sock, in Thank Ewe sock yarn colorway Winter Chill, posed with the daffodils. I think the camera focused on the daffodils, but this was still the best shot.

More Amaryllis

The other Target amaryllis has a bud! I don't know if the miniature one (right in 2nd photo)  is going to bloom, as it has a lot of leaves, but no buds.

Little Amaryllis Cam

This is a mini amaryllis which has a lot of cute little white blooms. What is amazing is that I saved it from last year. It actually survived in my office.  I finished the Toe Jazz sock, and I plan to photograph it tomorrow in the sunlight.
