Buck 1, Accord 1

I think they tied, because the damage was not that bad. Don't know how the deer fared, but DH said the impact gave the buck a headache. I was driving home Sunday, around 11:15 p.m., coming into Piedmont, AL minding my own business, when the stupid buck ran into my car. There has been a humongous harvest/hunters moon for the past few days. I saw the deer when he was almost on the car, and slammed on the brakes reflexively. He hit the door frame, and folded the mirror in. I looked him in the eye. Once I calmed down enough to push the mirror back out, the remote settings worked. I was going the speed limit, 50. DH said I would have missed the deer if I had sped up.  It is irritating when I forget the car door catches on the dented area. The Accord has a week-long stay at the body shop starting Monday, as there is some damage to almost every section of the driver's side. There is also a dent in the back panel near the door and wheel well. (The hood and windshield have clay on them where a pickup, attempting to go up a hill on the shoulder of the road after 2-3 inches of rain, slung mud all over the passing Accord.)

In a Red Mood

Well, purple is in the family, right? H is for Hoodie. I have gotten about six inches or so done on the hood for CPH. The cables show up a lot better outside in the sun.

The other reds. I got the LG 8350 from Verizon in January, coincidentally. It goes well with Basque Red.  They also communicate well with each other using Bluetooth, after an initial struggle. (Computers!) The nail polish's name had something about scarlet and affair or something. Yes, I wiped the footprint off the freshly detailed by the Honda dealer bumper.


I left the dealership and drove straight to Lowe's and put 120 pounds of topsoil in the trunk. Had to dismantle the brand new cargo net. Looks just like the one on the Web site, except for the cardboard box of crap from the last Accord. (The net may not be in there right-like the nav system, Bluetooth and voice commands, everything has a learning curve.) The little white thing in the lower right corner? It's a Honda logo. (Why it costs more, right?) There is reflective tape on  the top, and it zips closed. Nice. The cargo net was promised by the dealer, who still owes me a tank of gas. It poured down rain this morning, and the road that I take to work has not been repaved yet.. See the dirt on the freshly detailed back bumper?

Last but not least, a little green. The baby tomatoes have been transplanted into large pots. They are a couple of feet tall, and gangly

Sayonara Soryu

Hello Hiryu. Who says I don't have clever titles on rare occasions? DH keeps trying to give my Accords Japanese names.  (History majors, what can I say?) However, Soryu, for green dragon, was a WWII aircraft carrier sunk at the battle of  Midway. Hiryu, either red or flying dragon, was also sunk at Midway. So I don't really embrace these names. I just call them Accord.  So anyway, what I am saying here is that I traded my dark green Accord coupe for a Basque Red sedan a couple of weeks ago. I am easily amused, but it tickles me that Hiryu was bigger than Soryu, as Accords have gotten larger. We got tired of two doors, and the mileage was mounting up.

Geez, as Darlene says, this is a lot of change.  (Although I had much less trauma than she did.) This one even talks to me. After 45 minutes, with the cell phone manual, owner's manual and navigation manual, I even made a call using Bluetooth and my cell phone after pairing the two. I felt as if I were in Star Trek. I have been calling it "her" for the female voice. It tells me what time it is. They didn't tell me the audio and climate control as well as the navigation system were all voice activated. I have had interesting results with voice commands.  I have been studying the DVD that explains the features and functions, and finally got my cell phone contacts from the navigation system database saved into the Hands Free Link database. Whew! For my next trick, I want to get a cable to connect my mp3 player to the stereo so I can listen to Lime and Violet and audiobooks.

I have to say that I was only insulted by a Toyota salesman who couldn't believe my DH would let me do my own car trading when I looked briefly at RAV-4s. "It's MY Honda," I replied. The Honda salespeople I dealt with at least knew how much I knew about the Accord. My salesman, who sold me the last Accord too, always comments on my knitting.
