More Socks

I had a sudden flash of sock inspiration last night and decided to make Fawkes (Ravelry link).  I came across some fiery socks while looking for an ezample. So the only yarn I could use was my Scout's Swag sock yarn in Joseph's Coat. This is my first-ever custom dyed yarn, inspired by the roses on our patio. It's a little overcast here, and the yarn looks as if it is glowing.

Embossed Leaves Finished

I have finished the first of my WIPs Wrestling event for the Ravelympics. Embossed Leaves socks in Ball and Skein Fallen Leaves yarn from the Favorite Socks book. I started socks last fall with this yarn, then ripped it out and switched to this pattern in May.

One Nanner Down

I finished my first Nanner sock. the yarn is Gluttony, from the Fearless Fibers Seven Deadly Sins sock yarn club. It is one of my "events" for WIPs wrestling for Ravelympics. I immediately started the toe for the second one.

Guess what I got in the mail today? Yarn! This is Pink Cadillac from crazy4dying.etsy.com I love hot pink. I was enabled again by the Daily Chum. Or was it another site? Oh well, if you want to be enabled inspired, click that link. Oh yes, I remembered the enabling site.with the Hibiscus for Hope pattern.  (It is usually the Chum, though.)

Nanner, Nanner

I took the sock to work amd left the cotton raglan bolero at home. I have actually memorized the Nanner pattern repeats. My doctor's appointment was rescheduled, so I lost some knitting time. Nanner socks, Fearless Fibers Gluttony colorway.

I got my first package from The Loopy Ewe in the mail yesterday. I didn't get to open it because I worked until 11 p.m. I got the Second Anniversary Sock Kit, with a mug, a button, temporary tattoos, and Hand Maiden yarn called Casbah merino/cashmere/nylon red, black and silver Loopified yarn, and a sock pattern.

When I am in the rock garden posing my socks, I am right next to a peach tree. The trees are loaded this year. I think these may be white fruit.

Supper and Socks

I finished my Luxor socks, and photographed them. Then I picked up windfall peaches and picked some peaches, and cut up some for my yogurt. I cut up the rest and put Fruit Fresh on them and put them in the fridge. Then I got around to the photos uploaded from two cameras. Luxor socks from Ann Hanson at Knitspot.com, Ruby Sapphire Luster merino/tencel yarn in Darlene.

Lest you think I am out here having it easy with my photo shoots, I will tell you that there are obstacles. Not to mention my leg is bleeding where some insect bit me. Peanut bites too.

For the supper part of my post, I made Pizza Caprese with the fresh Mozzarella I got at Kroger, 40 minutes away in GA. I had to pick Romas and basil from the garden. Cookie and Peanut supervised.

Then work continues on my chocolate Nanners. The yarn is Gluttony from Fearless Fibers Seven Deadly Sins club. The prop is the avocado tree from the pit of the one I used for guacamole on Super Bowl Sunday. I thought it suitably tropical.

More Sock and Flower Photos

Clessidra4
Clessidra is at the ankle. It is so neat the way the small cables meet at the ankle.

Tomato
The tomatoes are blooming, and I have a new Nikon lens. The Brandyboy shows its Brandywine parentage with the strange shaped blossom and potato shaped leaves. This plant broke when it was small and it was taped and nursed along. It is the largest tomato plant now. The basil has finally been transplanted in the garden

What is this, the pet of the week feature? Lastly, does anyone need a Lab mix pup?  Look at that face! She has been wormed and treated for fleas and ticks.

Socking Along Again

Clessidra has not been going along quite as smoothly. I lost my cable needle at lunch yesterday. Maybe I can find it at lunch tomorrow. I forgot to cross a cable, and tried to fix it, and ended up taking out 3 or so rows. Later the power went off, and while trying to knit by flashlight, I lost another cable needle and the crochet hook I was trying to fix dropped stitches with. I had to rip out some more later two times to fix miscrossed cables. The power came back on after 1.5 hours.

Nothing But Clessidra

I did order a pattern for a laptop case today. My fabric stash is large, too. Anyway, I have been enjoying the Clessidra pattern. It is easy so far. The Embossed Leaves are languishing on the vine, as Christy said in the comments. Yes. my calf is that big-you should have seen them when I was taking dance and gymnastics.

I forgot to add this yesterday. Oh yes, speaking of socks, operating on the theory that one can never had too much sock yarn or patterns, I ordered Laura's kit for Pink Ribbon socks.  I love the way the ribbons meet at the heel to form cables. The order includes a donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I am a fan of Laura's hand-painted yarn, and donate anyway to the cause. Hurry, there are not many of the kits left.

Moving Right Along

My sock is now identifiable as Clessidra. It did take me a while to get it shifted around on the Magic Loop. Knit Picks Gloss in burgundy.

Yet Another Sock and Bag

I tried yet again to make a shorter box bag. I think the secret is to sew the zipper in the short end, duh. I was inspired by Tonyia, after I found her blog with the easier squared corners technique. Anyway, this bag is rife with mistakes, but it matches my lnitting bag. The reason for the denim strip is that the zipper was already sewn in a leftover oiece from said bag. That is the beginning of Clessidra with the Knit Picks Gloss yarn.

I got some more fabric from a really neat place, the Fat Quarter Shop. It was packaged very nicely and arrived really fast. This is Moda Funky Monkey-it has sock monkeys! The fabric underneath is inspired by the song Five Little Monkeys (jumping on the bed) For the easily amused, I have embedded a YouTube video. My nephew, who is five, said he had never heard the song, and besides, he couldn't be a monkey because he had blonde hair.
