    A Little Progress

Well, I haven't finished with the CPH ribbing yet with my 60" Options cable, but I have installed 2 GB of RAM and a new network card. I am back on the Web. Tonight I have been plagued with problems with USB devices, and I am wondering if the ports were affected by the zap from the thunderstorm. Anyway, a memory boost has given our old (in computer years) Dell a new lease on life. I followed the directions in the Vogue Knitting book, and placed scrap yarn every two inches, then divided the number of marked sections with the total stitches to come up with the number of stitches to pick up in each section. I should have photographed the yarn-festooned sweater, but Paula Deen was messing with chocolate on the Food Network and I was distracted.

    New Things

Hey, this is my first post using Windows Vista on my new toy, a Dell Inspiron 1705. The notebook has a slot for the camera's card. I had trouble cropping the photo with the touchpad, though. I think my hyacinth bulb is going to bloom again.

    Information Overload

That's how I felt at the ALA exhibits. It just dawned on me that I walked right past Elvis on my mission to register for the fancy gas grill that ProQuest was giving away. I traveled with my cell phone, PDA, Palm keyboard, digital camera (and chargers for same) etc. and managed to surf the Web and blog on that tiny screen, and I was baffled by the self-check in machines for United at O'Hare. I had to get help from a United person as I was holding up the line staring at the screen,. Now I think that was really neat. At the time it was 7am at O'Hare, and I had had no breakfast, no tea, not even my vitamins.

The sock went to ALA, but I forgot it was in the bag. Elvis and Baker & Taylor might have posed with it. Oh well... It's on to Vegas for the sock.

Oh yeah, I took the MIT Weblog survey. The link is on my right sidebar-the button that says "I Am a Statistic." Take it to show how many of us knitting bloggers are out there!
